When the Avon, NC winter hits, you need to prepare your home with a properly functioning heating system. One frustrating problem you may encounter with your heating system is that it seems to have poor airflow throughout your home. This can have a number of different causes that you should be aware of.

Blocked Vents

The first place you’ll want to look is at the vents. These can have obstructed airflow whenever there are objects placed in front of them, or they’re turned into the off position. Take a few minutes to check all the vents to make sure they’re in an open position and nothing is obstructing their airflow.

Clogged Air Filter

As your air filter works, it traps unwanted pollutants from the air inside your home. Whenever your filter reaches the end of its lifespan, it becomes clogged and reduces the amount of airflow. To remedy this problem, you simply need to replace the air filter with a new one or call us. We’ll change your filter if you’re a maintenance program customer.

Blocked Condenser Unit

Your heating system has an outdoor condenser unit that pulls heat from the outdoors to heat the inside of your home. When this condenser unit gets blocked with debris, it can’t freely circulate air like it needs to. You can solve this problem by cleaning up the area around your outdoor condenser unit and ensuring that all the vents on the grille cover are free from obstructions.

Damaged Blower Fan

Your airflow problem may be an issue with the actual blower fan responsible for moving the air inside of your ducting. Issues like broken fan blades or objects stuck in the fan can create a reduction in the amount of airflow that your system experiences. It’s best to call in one of our professionals to handle this issue with your heating system.

If you’re having trouble with the airflow in your HVAC system, it’s time to call R.A. HOY Heating & Air Conditioning. We can handle all types of heating repairs to ensure that your family stays comfortable this winter season.
