R.A. Hoy has served the Outer Banks from the same Kitty Hawk location since 1979. We offer plumbing services alongside heating and air conditioning to help with your home maintenance, repair, and installation needs.
There are two ways to enter. No purchase is necessary, and a purchase will not increase your chance of winning.
What the Winner Receives
The winner receives a new replacement residential tanked water heater and standard installation at their primary residence. R.A. Hoy selects the make, model, size, capacity, and fuel type based on the winner’s existing system and home. The prize does not include a tankless water heater or a conversion from tanked to tankless.
Standard installation covers a like-for-like replacement. It does not cover electrical upgrades, gas line changes, relocating the unit, or other work outside a normal swap. The full list of inclusions and exclusions is in the Official Rules below.
Two Ways to Enter
You may enter once per household, using either method. Completing both methods does not add a second entry.

Visit the official R.A. Hoy Free Water Heater Giveaway post on Facebook and complete all of the following steps during the contest period:

Once all four steps are complete, you receive one entry. This method costs nothing.
Who Can Enter
To be eligible, at the time of entry you must be:
- A legal adult
- A legal resident of North Carolina
- A homeowner whose primary residence is within the R.A. Hoy service area and contains the water heater that would be replaced

Official Rules | Terms & Conditions
1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING.
2. Sponsor. This Contest (the “Contest”) is sponsored by R.A. Hoy, 3908 N. Croatan Highway, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949 (“Sponsor”), with the Prize furnished by R.A. Hoy.
3. Prize. Subject to the exclusions and requirements set forth in these Rules, one (1) winner will receive a new replacement residential tanked water heater and standard installation at the winner’s eligible residence (the “Prize”). The approximate retail value (“ARV”) of the Prize will vary depending on the specifications and installation requirements, up to a maximum approximate retail value of $2,800.00. The winner is not entitled to receive the difference, if any, between the actual value of the Prize and the maximum ARV stated above.
4. Eligibility. To be eligible to participate in the Contest, at the time of entry an entrant must be a legal adult, a legal resident of North Carolina, and a residential homeowner whose primary residence is located within Sponsor’s service area and contains the water heater that would be replaced by the Prize. Employees of Sponsor and their immediate family members or household members are not eligible. If you are unsure whether your residence is within Sponsor’s service area, please call (252) 221-6229.
5. Contest Period. Eligible entries may be submitted beginning at 12:01 a.m. ET on September 14, 2026, and must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET on October 12, 2026 (the “Contest Period”). Sponsor’s server/computer system is the official timekeeping device for this Contest.
6. How to Enter. Eligible individuals may enter the Contest using either of the following methods:
Method 1 – R.A. Hoy Plumbing Membership: During the Contest Period, an eligible individual may call R.A. Hoy at (252) 221-6229 and purchase an eligible R.A. Hoy Plumbing Membership. Upon completion of the qualifying membership purchase, the eligible purchaser will receive one (1) entry into the Contest.
Method 2 – Free Facebook Entry: No purchase is necessary. During the Contest Period, visit the official R.A. Hoy Facebook page and locate the R.A. Hoy Free Water Heater Giveaway post. To enter, an eligible individual must follow the instructions contained in the official Contest post, including liking the Contest post, commenting on the Contest post, tagging a friend in the comments, and following the R.A. Hoy Facebook page. Upon completion of all required steps during the Contest Period, the eligible individual will receive one (1) entry into the Contest.
Limit one (1) entry per eligible individual/household, regardless of method of entry. Completing both methods of entry will not result in additional entries or increase an entrant’s chances of winning.
7. Entry Requirements. Entries must contain or otherwise provide sufficient information for Sponsor to identify and contact the entrant and verify eligibility. Entrants are responsible for ensuring that all information provided to Sponsor is true, current, correct, and complete. Entries that are incomplete, inaccurate, fraudulent, submitted outside the Contest Period, or otherwise fail to comply with these Rules may be disqualified in Sponsor’s sole discretion.
8. Winner Selection and Notification. Following the close of the Contest Period, Sponsor will randomly select one (1) potential winner from among all eligible entries received through both methods of entry. The potential winner will be selected and notified by October 16, 2026, using the contact information available to Sponsor. Odds of winning depend upon the total number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period.
Subject to eligibility and installation verification as provided in these Rules, the potential winner will be informed of final selection as the winner prior to any public or media announcement.
If the potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to respond within the timeframe specified by Sponsor, declines the Prize, fails to satisfy the eligibility criteria, or is otherwise determined to be ineligible, Sponsor shall have the right, but not the obligation, to randomly select an alternate potential winner from the remaining eligible entries.
9. Installation Eligibility. Award of the Prize is subject to verification by Sponsor or a duly authorized third party that the winner’s residence and existing plumbing system can accommodate the Prize in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, building codes, manufacturer requirements, and permitting requirements and without uncommon installation or other expense, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.
The potential winner must agree to and permit Sponsor and/or duly authorized third parties to take all necessary legal, regulatory, inspection, or other compliance actions, including but not limited to accessing the installation location, pulling necessary permits, and allowing necessary inspections.
For the avoidance of doubt, the precise nature and actual value of the Prize may vary depending upon the winner’s residence, and the Prize will only be awarded if it can be installed at the residence in accordance with these Rules.
10. Prize Specifications and Exclusions. The Prize is limited to a residential tanked water heater selected by Sponsor based upon the winner’s residence and existing system. The Prize does not include a tankless water heater or conversion from a tanked water heater to a tankless water heater.
The make, model, size, capacity, fuel type, and other specifications of the Prize will be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion based upon the winner’s existing system, residence, availability, and installation requirements.
Unless expressly agreed to otherwise by Sponsor, the Prize does not include extraordinary plumbing modifications, electrical modifications or upgrades, gas-line modifications, structural modifications, remediation, relocation of the water heater, code upgrades unrelated to standard installation, or other uncommon repairs, upgrades, modifications, or expenses determined by Sponsor to fall outside standard installation.
11. No Cash Redemption or Transfer. The Prize cannot be redeemed for cash or otherwise and is not transferable or assignable. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the Prize with a prize of equal or greater value in its sole discretion.
12. Taxes and Other Expenses. Federal, state, and local taxes on the Prize, if any, and any costs, fees, or expenses not specifically identified in these Rules as included as part of the Prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. The winner may be required to provide a valid Social Security Number for tax purposes and/or complete an IRS Form W-9 in order to claim the Prize. An IRS Form 1099 and other tax-related forms and documents may be issued by Sponsor or others associated with the Contest if required by law.
13. Publicity. By entering, entrants irrevocably and unconditionally grant Sponsor the right, except where prohibited by law, to use and publicize their name, likeness, photograph, voice, biographical information, and details of participation or winning on Sponsor’s or its parents’, affiliates’, or subsidiaries’ websites, social media accounts, advertising, and other promotional media for purposes of this Contest and future promotions without additional compensation.
By accepting the Prize, the winner additionally agrees to reasonably cooperate with Sponsor in obtaining a testimonial and photographs and/or video of the winner, existing water heater, new water heater, and completed installation for promotional purposes.
14. Marketing Communications. By entering, participants acknowledge and agree that Sponsor may use contact information provided in connection with the Contest to communicate with them regarding administration of the Contest.
Sponsor may also use contact information for future promotional, advertising, and marketing purposes, including offers, newsletters, and information about Sponsor’s products and services, subject to applicable law. Consent to receive marketing communications is not a condition of entry or winning and may be withdrawn at any time by following applicable unsubscribe instructions or contacting Sponsor directly.
15. Privacy. Sponsor will not publish an entrant’s home address, nor will entrant information be sold to third parties. 16. Release and Limitation of Liability. Neither Sponsor nor any of Sponsor’s parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, agents, advertising partners, or promotional partners accepts responsibility or liability in connection with injuries, losses, or damages of any kind caused by or resulting from participation in the Contest or the acceptance, possession, installation, or use of the Prize.
By accepting the Prize, the winner expressly releases and holds harmless Sponsor and all associated parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, agents, and other entities from such responsibility and liability to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Sponsor is not liable for any lost, stolen, incomplete, late, miscommunicated, misunderstood, or misdirected entries or for interrupted or unavailable network, internet, website, social media, telephone, computer, server, or other connections; technical failures; hardware or software malfunctions; delayed or misdirected transmissions; or other errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical, electronic, or network-related, that affect the submission, receipt, processing, or recording of entries or Contest information.
17. Facebook and Meta Disclaimer. By entering, participants expressly release and hold harmless Sponsor, Sponsor’s parents, affiliates, and subsidiaries, as well as Facebook and Meta, from any and all liability arising from or relating to the Contest.
The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook or Meta. Any information provided by an entrant is being provided to Sponsor and not to Facebook or Meta.
18. Disqualification. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any individual from participation in the Contest if Sponsor concludes, in its sole discretion, that such individual has attempted to tamper with the entry process or other operation of the Contest; has submitted fraudulent, false, incomplete, or inaccurate information; has disregarded or failed to comply with these Rules; or has otherwise attempted to circumvent the intended operation of the Contest.
19. Modification, Suspension, or Cancellation. Sponsor reserves the right, subject to applicable law, to cancel, suspend, modify, or terminate the Contest if fraud, technical failures, unauthorized intervention, or any other cause beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper operation of the Contest.
If the Contest is terminated before the end of the Contest Period, Sponsor reserves the right, where lawful and practicable, to select a potential winner from among eligible entries received prior to termination.
20. Severability and Waiver. Any failure by Sponsor to enforce any provision of these Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. If any provision of these Rules is determined to be invalid, illegal, or otherwise unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid, illegal, or unenforceable provision were not contained herein.
21. General Conditions. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.
Sponsor shall be entitled to interpret these Rules in its sole discretion, including but not limited to rules regarding entries, deadlines, winner selection, prize restrictions, installation requirements, and eligibility, and all of Sponsor’s decisions shall be final to the extent permitted by applicable law.
By entering, each entrant irrevocably, fully, and unconditionally agrees to be bound by these Rules and Sponsor’s interpretations thereof and waives any right to claim ambiguity in these Rules or any advertising or promotional materials related to the Contest.
